This is the Day the Lord has made…

   You might notice there are no “Happy Halloween’s” coming from me today!  I wrote a post last year about why we don’t celebrate Halloween with the hope of shedding some light on the true meaning of Halloween, for any fellow Believers who might not already know!  I know that it is something the Lord has strongly convicted us about, and there is a lot of controversy around it all.  But, if you would like to learn more about the truth behind Halloween, read this.  We should all be fervently praying tonight for the lives of those babies!

Today I read the book, “Mommy, Why Don’t We Celebrate Halloween?” by Linda Hacon Winwood to the kids.  It does a pretty good job of expaining some of the true meanings behind Halloween to the kids.

We will be going to our friends house tonight, hanging out with a bunch of friends from church, and having a Mexican food fiesta – yumm-o!

“This is the day the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

  • My husband and I have been convicted of that as well. We have read a lot about Halloween and its origins and don’t want to celebrate it. We have family members with differing opinions of course.

    Hope you have a great evening with friends. God bless,

    Jennifer

  • [...]  Read Katie’s post from this year. [...]

  • I read this post, and the one from last year about the true meaning of Halloween. My personal opinion is that it is what you make of it. If you “celebrate” with innocent fun, then that’s all it is. If you are a person who worships Satan, then Halloween doesn’t give you an excuse any more than any other day.

    I am a Christian, and I take my kids out trick-or-treating. I don’t consider it a Christian holiday, but I also don’t see anything wrong with it.

    I wish you the best. God bless.

  • Thank you for the link to the wonderful post on Halloween’s origin. We have been grieved that almost every Christian we know dismisses the evil and choose to celebrate anyway in fun. We too have a strong conviction about not participating and are blessed to know there are other families out there like us- we are a small minority.

    God bless to all!

  • YES-we are definitly a small minority, and it is very encouraging to hear of you and others who have the same convictions! Thank you for your comment!
