Hope for the Lonely

He sits in the cold, sterile hospital room, holding her hand, waiting for those inevitable words from the doctor. “I am sorry sir…she’s gone.” His heart aches with unimaginable pain as he watches the third person he has loved so deeply in his 80 years of life, pass away from this monster disease. Cancer. First, the wife of his youth, and mother of his 2 children. Next his oldest child, his best friend, his son. And now his dearly loved {Read More}

I Can’t but He Can

  I can’t get up early.  I’m not a morning person. I can’t blog. I don’t know what to say. I can’t decide what homeschool curriculum to use next year.  There are too many choices. I can’t clean my house.  It’s too discouraging how fast it gets messy again. I can’t spend time with the Lord.  I don’t have time. I can’t love my husband.  Do you know what he just did? I can’t listen to a second more of {Read More}

BIG News!!!

I am overjoyed to announce that we are expecting again!!  I had a positive pregnancy test on January 6th, soon after we returned from our trip to FL – the perfect New Year’s gift!!  I am so very, unbelievably thankful to the Lord!!  It’s been killing me to keep it a secret from my family, friends, and blog readers as long as I have.  I usually tell the news right away.  I am not one who likes to wait until {Read More}

Reflecting on a Month of Thankfulness

Thankfulness – to God – should occur every day.  It should be on our hearts and our tongues in everything, the good and the bad. “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  1 Thess 5:18 This year on my personal facebook page I participated in 30 days of Thankfulness, posting what I am thankful for every day of the month of November. Here are my 30 days of Thankfulness status updates: Missed {Read More}

Scripture Sunday – 11/20/11

For scripture Sunday this week, I thought I’d share the passage my son Trevor  taught during his Karate class a week ago.  It was such a blessing to witness him be so bold.  From signing up to teach a Bible study (without any prompting what-so-ever from us), to getting up in front of 2 Karate classes, full of adults and children to proclaim God’s word, teaching it verse by verse to the class – it was something to truly be {Read More}

Celebrating 11 Amazing Years!

I could not have chosen or even dreamed of finding one so perfectly fit for me!  Praising the Lord today for 11 totally, absolutely, amazing, wonderful, joyous years of marriage to the better-than-I-ever-dreamed man of my dreams!  🙂 I know, I am getting all mushy and gushy on you.  I just can’t help it.  I love this guy more than you can possibly imagine.  God has blessed our marriage tremendously.  Although the two of us have been through many difficult {Read More}

My God is so BIG

Ever sing that song with your kids? When the Lord first drew me to Himself, that was a concept, or attribute of God, that He used to grab a hold of my heart. God’s Big-ness! How’s that for a fun word? My husband loves my made up words! ;P But seriously, God IS so big. He is All-Powerful, Mighty, and Strong. Yet, He is intimate, loving, and personal. He cares for teeny, tiny, puny – me! I love it when {Read More}

My Newest Little Niece Has Arrived!!

Just a couple of hours after I posted my weekly wrap-up post yesterday – my sister’s water broke!!  Her sweet new baby girl was born at 12:41am today, weighing in at 10lbs, 7oz, and 22 inches long!!  I am so excited for my sister and her family and their 4th little addition!  What a blessing!

Trivial Pursuits

This is one of the many lessons it seems God has been beating me over the head with teaching me lately. 🙂  How easy it is for me to get sucked into the meaningless.  To run after so many pursuits, but neglect the most important pursuits of my life.  My husband, my children, my home, my God, my relationships!  Because really, at the end of the day, those are the only things that will have mattered in my life.   {Read More}

Thanksgiving Thoughts

“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”  1 Thess 5:18 This Thanksgiving, as I ponder the things I am thankful to God for, something that keeps coming to the forefront of my mind is the idea of being thankful in all circumstances: the good and the bad.  It’s more than just an idea.  It is Biblical. Don’t believe me?  See the above verse.  Still don’t believe me?  Think about the {Read More}

How Firm a Foundation

During our school time morning devotions, one of the things the kids and I have been doing is using Hymns For a Kids Heart, by Bobbie Wolgemuth and Joni Eareckson Tada.  This morning we began learning the hymn How Firm a Foundation. For each new hymn, the book tells a little background history on the hymn, and then includes a little story from Joni about someway that hymn has influenced or spoken to her life.  I enjoyed her story this {Read More}

All I want to do

All I want to do, is give this life to You All I want to do, is give this life to You All I want to do, is give this life to You And let Your will be done, until it’s all I want to do. How does doubt slip in, so silently? And why does condemnation come so naturally? Why do I still get the best of me? Loving so little and living so selfishly? When all I want {Read More}

Tumors, Emergency Surgery, and Bedrest…OH MY!

It has now been 2 1/2 weeks, since I went to the ER and ended up in emergency surgery, and I guess I am just now feeling coherant enough to write about it!! I believe I mentioned this past spring/summer, while being shuffled from doctor to doctor, that we found I had 2 tumors…one on each ovary.  After several doctors (obgyns,  an oncologist, & a high risk obgyn) it was concluded that most likely my tumors were benign.  They believed {Read More}
