Homeschooling Through Life’s Curveballs

How do you homeschool when life throws you a curveball? So far, during our homeschool journey, we’ve gone through about 3 good, solid years of some pretty big life stuff. God used those years of homeschooling  to ingrain in me the great need for flexibility in homeschooling. We homeschool at home, while living our everyday, ordinary life.  Difficulties happen. We go through unforeseen hardships, pain, suffering, grief, anxiety, stress, emergencies – you name it.  Living in a fallen world these {Read More}

Our Chore & Routine System {Vlog}

My son and I created a vlog on how our chore & routine system works.  This system kills 2, well really 3, birds with one stone.  Not only does it help them complete their daily chores, it also regulates electronic time, and helps teach saving/spending principles. I came up with this system about 2 years ago, and have loved how well it has worked for our family.  We were really looking for 2 big things with our kids at the {Read More}

In my life this week… The week started off with a visit to Care Now for our daughter.  Her fever was getting worse, and she was having horrible ear pain.  That was followed up by a visit to her pediatrician the next day.  Turned out to be a severe swimmers ear infection.  (She hasn’t even been swimming – go figure) Poor girl.  It was a rough 4 days or so, but she is doing much better now. Thankfully she was {Read More}

Father’s Day Candy Card {Don’t Just Pin it – DO it}

  The kids and I had so much fun today working on this fun little Father’s Day project we found on Pinterest.  We ended up combining two different cards I had pinned, AND added our own flair to it! One card idea came from THIS site.  The other one we pulled some ideas from was from HERE. My son came  up with the clever idea & line for adding the Starburst, since my husband prefers fruity candy.  We also decided {Read More}

Study the States – Road Trip Notebook

We just returned from one road trip, and are getting ready to hit the road again for the Teach Them Diligently Convention in Omaha! It was a little last minute, but a few days before we left for our Florida road trip, I threw together a couple of Road Trip Notebooks for the kids.  A little something to use for learning about each state we travel in.   They were to study the state while we were in it, collect {Read More}
