Around Here Lately

I know my posts have been few and far between lately.  So, I thought I would post a little update on what is going on around here! 🙂

Jared and I got back from our belated 10th anniversary trip to Riviera Maya,  just 2 weeks ago.  Since then we’ve just been playing catch up and living life!

Zoe finished Kindergarten last week – yay Zoe!!  She is now my budding little reader and writer!!  And since we are moving into a year round schooling schedule – she will be starting 1st grade up here pretty soon!!

Trevor is almost finished with his 3rd grade work.  He has 3 days left!  Yay Trev!!

I am really looking forward to starting a year round school schedule with them this year.  I believe it is going to flow with life so much more wonderfully!

This week we celebrated my sweet husband’s 31st birthday!  Just a laid back family celebration – going out to eat, coming home to enjoy a homemade version of Cracker Barrel’s Coca Cola Chocolate Cake, and of course, watching the MAVS whoop up on the Heat in the NBA finals!!!  WooHoooooo!

Oh yeah – that reminds me!  Of course we have been watching every game of the NBA finals, nearly having a heart-attack each nail-biting event!!  Hoping our Mavs will pull through and clench the title this year!!!

Ok, lets see, what else is new….OH!  Have I mentioned that my garden is producing?!  No?  Well, it is!!  I am thrilled about that!!  Been getting lots of green beans, jalepenos, have a few tomatoes almost ready, some strawberries, and lots of lettuce!  It is so exciting that I didn’t kill the whole garden!!  Something did however destroy all of my gourd type plants, and melons.  But I have re-planted, and hope to have some survive!

Other than that, I have just been trying to enjoy summertime with the kiddos!  We have our Six Flags season passes again this summer, and have already been about 3 or 4 times.  We’ve been slip n’ sliding, and are doing some other fun water activities next week.  Trevor’s been participating in our Mayors Library reading contest, and doing a great job being consistent.  He turned in his first filled card today, which will be entered into a drawing for some cool things like ipods, kindles, etc.  Oh, and the kids will be competing in their last soccer game of the season tomorrow!  They have had so much fun with it!!  We really love playing with the Upward organization.

We are also gearing up for our big family reunion trip this July in the Georgia mountains.  We are SO looking forward to a wonderful time with my grandparents, my aunt and uncle, cousins, and their kiddos!!

I guess that is about all that is fit to print for now!  Have an excellent weekend friends!!

  1. Sounds like you have a lovely family and are doing lots of delightful stuff. Have a great summer.

I have older kids- in fact all are grown but one, so we do a lot of discussion (and sometimes math) together.

    • Thank you!! And thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful summer too!

That sounds nice!! I know these years will fly by fast!! (They already are!)

  2. We just finished Kindergarten and celebrated our 10th anniversary! Congrats – looks like a great start to the summer!

  3. Congrats to both of your kids! What wonderful accomplishments:) I bookmarked the recipe for the cake and plan on making it next week. Thanks for providing a link. Gardens seem to be a popular subject among the journal-ers this week. I am so envious and cannot wait to start one when we move back home. Your reunion sounds wonderful-I’ve never been to Georgia, but my DH says that the parts he’s visited have been beautiful.

    • Thank you! I know, the end of a school year is always so exciting – to look back on all they have accomplished in a year!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  4. I like doing a more year-round schedule too. That way we can take time off when it best suits our family! (LIke taking the month of December off!!!) In my home (with three boys), we were glued to our TV’s for the finals. I was the sole Mav’s cheering squad though…

  5. Yes, I think it will work really well!!
WOOOHOOOO!! GO Mavs!! You were totally rooting for the right team!
