I Can’t but He Can

I can’t get up early.  I’m not a morning person.

I can’t blog. I don’t know what to say.

I can’t decide what homeschool curriculum to use next year.  There are too many choices.

I can’t clean my house.  It’s too discouraging how fast it gets messy again.

I can’t spend time with the Lord.  I don’t have time.

I can’t love my husband.  Do you know what he just did?

I can’t listen to a second more of my child’s whining. My head will explode.

I can’t pay this bill.  There is no money.

I can’t {fill in the blank}.

You’re right, you can’t.  But HE can!

Oh how frustratingly often we try to do it all on our own.  Struggling, struggling, struggling, when all we need to do it look to Christ!  He is right there, ready, fully able, and fully desiring to help us, to carry us, to strengthen us.

We can’t do it on our own, and we don’t NEED to do it on our own.

If you are in Christ, you have His strength, His love, His provision, His wisdom, His grace, His forgiveness, His patience!  You don’t need your own – your own STINKS!!  His is perfect!

Rest in that today, sweet sister!

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.  (Ephesians 3:14-21 esv)

What is your “I can’t” today? Lay it at His feet…

Such an encouragement! Thanks for posting this, Katie! Today my “I can’t” is, “I can’t muster the patience to continue waiting.” Thanks to your wise words I’ve backed off that ledge a bit. 🙂 Love you, sister!!

  2. Thank you. Such a good encouragement we need to hear day in and day out!
