Weekly Wrap-Up {6/30/13-7/6/13}

In my life this week…

The week started off with a visit to Care Now for our daughter.  Her fever was getting worse, and she was having horrible ear pain.  That was followed up by a visit to her pediatrician the next day.  Turned out to be a severe swimmers ear infection.  (She hasn’t even been swimming – go figure) Poor girl.  It was a rough 4 days or so, but she is doing much better now.

Thankfully she was all better by the 4th of July.  We enjoyed a nice laid back time at home this year.  Felicity doesn’t do well driving in the car at night, so we decided a quiet evening at home would be best.  We enjoyed baking a yummy flag cake together (see pics below), grilling burgers, and eating fruit salad.  We followed it up with sparklers in our backyard, while enjoying our neighbors lovely fireworks display.  😉

Some BIMW posts from this week (in case you missed them):

In our homeschool this week…

Zoe missed a couple days from being sick, but other than that it was (summer) school as usual.  We are getting excited about ending these grades very soon, and diving into our new books!!

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

Even if you do not school through the summer, like we do, it is a great idea to still use the summer for learning time.  That could look like:

  • sharpening up on math, reading, or any skill that your child might struggle in.  Even if its just some fun games, apps, online programs, etc.
  • using the summer to work on something you might not otherwise get to during the school year, like an art program, or learning computer/keyboarding skills, etc
  • Doing some fun delight-directed learning activities. Gather library books & activities online based on some topic your child is interested in.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We enjoyed a fun fellowship night with our care group this week, as we had a little farewell party for 3 members of our small group.  They will be missed greatly.

I’m praying for…

  • Fellow homeschooling friends going through the gut-wrenching pain of losing their baby, just a few days after her (full term) birth.  If you think of it, please take a moment to pray for them too.
